The respect for the natural and cultural environment is considered the main objective of this proposal. The gaps locates between the mass of trees are detected and a new landscape area is built to complement the existing buildings.
The design also focuses its attention on creating a free-traffic area. The road that cross the project site is modified creating a one way lane and broadening its section. Car park places are located at both sides of the road in order to meet the needs of this sector. This action let enclose the vehicular space in a specific area and free up the surroundings.
The new road is covered by a pedestrian and green area (that we call “New Land”) which creates a new axis and organizes the space serving the university area. As a new way to go over the site, the “New Land” contains facilities as well as recreational areas in its itineraries. Furthermore, this lineal element strengthen the border between the former campus and the new residential zone.
The project uses the gaps inside the forest to place a set of residential towers in which the relation nature-human being is enhanced and only separated by a layer of glass.
Within the residential towers, the community uses are located on lower and upper floors. The upper ones act as viewpoints that let contemplate breathtaking views of the coast over the grove.
The connection between the towers and the rest of the campus area is carried out by this “New Land”. Its section creates a double connection: the upper one, which is uncovered and better for summer; and the covered one that is more appropriate for winter. Optimization and intensification are the concepts that lead the design of this new element between the university campus and the proposed residential towers.
