Academy Project|Urban Intervention in Ronda  |Tourist and Leisure Architecture|Malaga

Exercise I

The intervention in a historic emblematic as that of Ronda seems difficult considering the symbolism of the urban aspect of the city. The intervention, therefore, must be extremely sensitive to such a peculiar environment, characterized by the typical white houses whitewashed reinforced popular in a very unique location has made the city develops uniquely, separated by a large gash in other times was the limit of growth, developed only by the overreach zone of the old bridge but, following the construction of the new bridge, gives the city a new area of growth that gives the place a wide range of very different landscape environments. After a preliminary analysis, it appears that Ronda is a multicultural city given the large number of visitors it receives annually. Its plot is a source abirragada culture of constant discovery for the alien walker, where every corner of the city is an iconic landmark in his conception of the environment. Therefore, given the large number of people visiting this city, we thought it must be a city that can be adapted to the extent possible to all kinds of users, from children, parents and grandparents, to people of diverse cultures, including all those who have some kind of disability. The analysis confirms that there are some museums that do not have this range of accessibility within the oldest plot, we propose the creation of a tour that integrates the main museums and landmarks of the city by using a material and a particular furniture Urban characterizing the tour, serving as reference for road users who do not know the city and for those who have some degree of disability. Therefore, we propose the use of a new material called Stabex, a composition consisting of natural hydraulic lime plus a mineral binder, giving stability to the soil characteristics suitable for hardening and roughness accessibility, besides being a mimesis that keeps the harmonic composition of the place.

Exercise II

Located in the city of Ronda and with an area of 47.5 ha., The block of Ronda has two parts, a gorge 500 m long and 100 m deep with a width of 50 m and a huge escarpment that opens in a circular hollow: "La Caldera" .It is located on orogenic sediment and throat has been carved by the Guadalevín River, which is wedged between a series of detrital material carbonate and clay and loamy materials (molasses). In the open area of the boiler escarpment, scrub appears in small scattered patches, hung on the projections of the escarpment, and also form a cushion on the edge of the ledge. The scenic qualities are remarkable for its spectacular escarpments and found the town center on the cornices of it.

The river accommodates a topography that he himself has created and which completely determines the morphology of the town of Ronda.

After a visual appreciation of the natural environment of the city and the existing tourist facilities, it is concluded that the real area of Ronda is not pressed. Therefore an urban elevator that allows finishing the route to the viewpoint of the Tagus, down to the river itself and the consequent transformation of morphological visual environment arises.

Exercise III

With this proposal we try to transcend the concept of public space into a hybrid space, which is both time and content continent; Tectonic and digital; permanent and ephemeral; natural and artificial; participatory and informative; and happens simultaneously in complementary variable spaces. It is intended to connect the city of Ronda with the rest of the world, "open to the world round", and create a space of relationship between the people of Ronda and tourists, who often know only the area of the city. The public space as a meeting of natural and electronic flows. We want to expose the network of flows connecting the most important and significant points of the area. This city may be called for the first time, "Garden of microchips" when superimposed layers of networks of new technologies to be created and the flow of nature itself begin to generate a mutual effect. (Toyo Ito, 1993). It is a union of nature and technology. A new space fruit of the encounter between natural and electronic flows.

Zoning of the square:

• Gardens should be provided to create a natural environment within an area of a very urban character. Create sitting areas where both citizens and tourists can relax and enjoy nature. The flowers turn create different sensations depending on the colors, smells, textures ...

• The luminous bodies through direct interaction with devices or through sensors change color according to user preference. These lights are reflected on the pavement which includes areas of metal bands.

• The points of information through devices placed by way of computers in the central area of the square allow access to Internet users, allowing direct connection to the outside.

• The digital displays, street lighting and other elements will organize large events such as film screenings, concerts, football games and large-scale replay of what happens in one part of the square to allow all users to see.

These infrastructures of digital technology applied to public space will enable the activities are broadcast live via Internet to the network of networks and that in turn can enjoy real-time events that are happening elsewhere.
